I travelled all around the world
In 2012 I left with my wife for a trip around the world. We named our project “Coipiediperterra” which can be translated as “with our feet on the ground”, meaning that we went around the world for one year without flying.
We got this idea the very first time we met: we both love travelling and we were telling each other our past travel experiences when we had the feeling that something great could be done together… So after we got married we left our jobs and hit the road, having in mind this crazy dream of trying to travel without ever flying. We travelled in buses, trains, boats, cargo and cruise ships, cars and, of course, our own feet.
We travelled for 321 days, covering 89.354 km, we crossed 2 oceans, touched 24 countries, visited 107 cities, reached an altitude of 5400 m, crossed 360 meridians, read 26 books, shot 48221 pictures and met thousands of people.
It was a great journey, one you only get the chance to do once in a lifetime, even though we both hope we will do it again one day, with our daughter Emma.
I can say that in a way it was this trip that finally gave me the courage to fulfill another dream I’d had for a long time: that of opening my own personal photography gallery and selling my artwork.
Meanwhile, my wife too fulfilled her own dream: writing a book about the trip we took together. The book is a novel telling our love story through our journey, it is in Italian only for now but she’s planning to translate it into English one day.
